"This piece marks the start of new direction and reinvigoration in my pursuit of what I see, sense and feel”.
I have used found materials from Dartmoor to create a piece that explores the boundaries of figurative traditions and modern abstraction. The piece explores the juxtaposition of fragility and strength.
The contours and lines relate to those seen in the tors, paths and streams of Dartmoor as they form form links through this ancient landscape.
We, like the landscape, age and twist with the passage of time. Neither are perfect but yet both reflect the present.
My passion has always been drawing, and it was in the life drawing class at York that I excelled as a student, but I did’t have an artists voice at 17 years old . I have now ! I didn’t know what I wanted to convey. I do now!
This piece has no one position it can be displayed so it is ever changing . I don’t work with a rigid armature but rather hold the pieces in the palm of my hands as I form them.
